We Had A Groovy Time!
PAWS'
4th Annual Dinner Dance,
'Boogie Fever'
was truly a flashback to the 70's! Tie-dye, peace
signs and smiley faces adorned the hall. Many of our
guests arrived sporting 70's Disco Queen or hippie
attire. Even the canines in attendance were caught up
in boogie fever.
"Swinging The Standards"
supplied the vocal entertainment for the evening
greeting guests with songs from the 70's. Our auctions
opened promptly at 6 p.m. It was a shopper's paradise!
With 158 Silent Auction items and 9 Live Auction items,
great deals were everywhere. One lucky Nascar fan left
with the next-best thing, a Nascar driving
experience! Like the White Sox? Our live auction had 4
seats in the row right behind the dugout! Other auction
items included an X-Box Kinect, a Kenmore grill, spa
packages, Easter baskets for the kids, downtown weekend
getaways, baskets for our 4-legged friends and much
more!
Shelter President, Paul Egan, began the festivities by
welcoming Tinley Park's own Mayor Edward Zabrocki along
with Illinois Comptroller Judy Barr Topinka who
expressed their support of our mission along with a few
anecdotes about their own pets. Master of Ceremonies,
John Dillon then introduced shelter friend Deacon
Stalcup of St. Stephen's parish who offered a blessing
to those in attendance, their own pets and to those
less-fortunate animals in the world. As dinner concluded
a video montage of 2011 was played and a few tears were
shed as moments from the past year, both happy and sad,
along with images of our shelter animals were
portrayed.
Mr. Darrell Sanders, our
auctioneer then took center stage! With his quick wit
and auctioneering skills, Darrell has become a crowd
favorite! There were some tense moments as the bidding
climbed. Mike LaMantia of Midnight Mike's Mobile DJ
Service set the tone for the evening with everything
from 70's disco to rock and even some country! The
dance floor was packed with people delighted to hear
songs they haven't heard in years! The Gap Band's, "You
Dropped A Bomb On Me" brought everyone out to the floor!
We chose the 70's theme
this year to celebrate our founding in 1974! And now,
after 38 years we are still going strong with over
21,000 animals in new homes because of you, our friends
and supporters.
We cannot even begin to
thank you because there are no words that could express
our gratitude. So please know that you have saved a
life today - a life that has no say - a life that
depends on you. And you have done a great job.
The night wasn't even
over and we were already talk requests for next year's
theme! Stay tuned!

Thank you for all that came out and met
with Ruff Ruff

Ruff Ruff's Thank you party!
PAWS extends its great appreciation for
all the money that people have donated
to Ruff Ruff's rehabilitation, money
that currently exceeds Ruff Ruff's
medical bills. Thank you all. While
her additional and later bills may
continue, we will hold any contributions
in excess to assist in Ruff Ruff's later
needs and our other shelter animals who
are in serious, immediate requirement of
medical attention.
Please remember that your contribution
is tax deductible (give info), and that
you have made an invaluable difference
in the life of one dog and the lives of
many more who have no one to advocate
for them during their pain and
illness. We are a no-kill shelter that
is volunteer operated. All your
donations will help these poor
unfortunates. Thank you and God bless
you.

P.A.W.S.
wishes to thank and congratulate soon-to-be Eagle Scout Scott
Matejovsky for choosing P.A.W.S. as the subject of his service
project. Scott hosted a hugely successful donation drive for the
shelter and delivered a truckload of food, paper towels, toys and
more to the shelter in January. We are truly grateful to Scott for
the kindness he extended to the shelter and we are all so very proud
of his accomplishments!

PAWS wishes to
thank future volunteer & all around great kid Melaney Struttmann
for celebrating her birthday by having her gifts be gifts for
our animals!
Melaney and friends made a very generous monetary donation along
with some
great toys and treats for our animal friends.Read Melaney's poem
below. Pictured is Melaney and Elwood!
Thanks Melaney!
This year
for my party I wanted to mix it up. I wanted to spend time with
some cats and some pups.
I still wanted my friends to help me with this, they brought
something special but for me to gifts.
They came to Tinley Park P.A.W.S. with some toys for the animals
it was a really great cause.

Kids today.....
You often hear that said with
a bit of a negative tone. We hear at PAWS say, "Kids today rock!"
Kids like Mckenzie Dockweiler
and Madison Parnello! These girls spend their days walking dogs in their
neighborhood to raise money to benefit our dogs and cats. They raised a
whopping $150.00 to date......that's a lot of dog walking!!! Thank you
Mckenzie and Madison from the PAWS Board of Directors and of course our
furry friends!
